I'm mad. And sad. I don't understand. What is this world coming to? I was recently talking with a friend about our opinions on the death penalty. We line up on opposite sides of the fence. I'm okay with that... But the conversation got me thinking of bigger things. I do believe if someone murders someone else, the murderer should be executed. Maybe that's harsh, but I bring up a point: why can a murderer continue to live, yet on a daily basis thousands of babies are murdered?
Time for a math lesson. If there have been 52,008,665* abortions (as of 2010) since the Roe Vs. Wade decision in 1973 (that's 37 years), then the average daily rate of unborn childhood deaths is just over 3851 per day. That's in the United States alone, people. Nearly 4000. Daily. This makes me sad. And mad.
But what can we do? What options lie before us? And scarier still, what judgments will befall our great nation because of it?
Our nation is dying a slow and painful death. It seems that freedoms and morals and constitutional rights are being eroded away daily. We are on the fast track to destruction. But I believe there is still hope.
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
II Chronicles 2:17 (ESV)
We need to stop what we are doing, look at the signs, and pray. May God have mercy on our land.
